    Hey guys-

Just out of curiosity, I want to do a straw poll into how many of you have fished from a drift boat.

Zach, Jack here. I finally got over the reservations i had against registering for yet another board!
The boy can’t help it, he’s addicted! ;D

I’ve floated countless times in Michigan, out west and here in the South.
As for your questions about drifters, there is no way I would take another persons wooden drift boat without a lot of time at the helm under my belt and without plenty of ‘local knowledge’ of the river I’m floating. If drift boat owners are like most other boat owners, they can be awfully particular about their crafts.

The raft would be harder to hurt on rocks and more forgiving whan you do smash into them.

I totally agree with Peddler. Take the raft. I have fished out of both and everybody should start with a raft. Easy to learn with and will take a beating. Master that and then graduate to a drifter.

My first experience with a drift boat was on the Mckenzie River in Oregon.

    – I’ve been fishing out of a drift boat 30+ times and rowed one at least 15 times.
