After yesterday’s outing on the upper (cold) hootch, I had the itch to do some more fishing.  Today’s float encompassed the majority of the delayed harvest section with a heat index of 107 f.  HotLanta!

Within 10 minutes of starting I saw a baitcaster catch a monster striper, maybe 25-30 pounds.  A bit later I hooked a small striper and had a good fight; unfortunately he wasn’t landed.  However, the rest of the day was shoal bass heaven.  Took a load of them on a white/redhead seaducer and also a black leach pattern.  That’s enough fishing for me until it cools off a bit.

I finally got the nerve to take the iPhone4 on the water and pulled it out for some action shots.  That takes guts, LOL.

The striper (pretend you see him in the water, LOL)

There was of course a “rubber hatch” all day long

That looks like some great water, it reminds me of the Coosa River or the upper Cahaba. Any good suggestions for a good place to camp up that way this fall?

Peter, unfortunately the Chattahoochee parks close at dark and do not offer camping (due to loitering issues i suspect)

It is also right in the middle of suburbia!

I’ve ran into some “urban outdoorsmen” before under some of the bridges along the Hooch.
