For wade fishing, what are you guys using?
I am looking at getting a telescopic hiking staff like this one

But I don’t know if I would be better off with more of a photographers monopod like this one

Is a manfrotto going to hold up as a wading staff when I am not shooting or am I pushing the boundaries?

I have not converted grams to ounces but I would suspect the Brunton is lighter

For wade fishing I would get a purpose built wading staff.

I bought the Fish Pond this past year and used it extensively in Montana for wading and Alaska for hiking, wading and a little as a monopod. It’s a good product. It’s one fault is that there is no attachment point for a lanyard – definitely a requirement for a wading staff. I use 3 mm (climber’s) accessory cord (3 ft) and attach to my wading belt with a small carabiner and to the wading staff with a slip knot. I can then take the cord off and use it for hiking and photography alone.

I know EMS made (maybe still does) a telescoping hiking/walking staff that has a screw off ball on the top of it.

Mountainsmith hiking stick. carbine tip, replaceable, camera mount in the head, and also you can get a “V” thingy to rest your rifle on to shoot with too.

I found mine at the North Branch Potomac, underwater.
