We blew through some very exotic sushi at Ru San’s in Buckhead last Saturday night, and we’re heading up to Knoxville to watch Darren McFadden run the ball across the checkerboards a few times this Saturday.

We blew through some very exotic sushi at Ru San’s in Buckhead last Saturday night, and we’re heading up to Knoxville to watch Darren McFadden run the ball across the checkerboards a few times this Saturday. My next probable fishing trip is on the holy White in Arkansas in about 10 days.

I was going to tell you that you boy McFadden has all but locked up the Heisman…Running across the checkerboards….thats great. Born, raised, lived in PA my whole life…and this Pennsy boy FINALLY got tickets to Happy Valley this past Saturday. What a day.

Anyone ever tried Ru San’s “Egg Sampler”? It consists of a rice maki roll filled to the brim with (fertilized) salmon eggs, caviar, some kind of red roe, and one raw quail egg cracked over the top. In a word, utterly disgusting. However, one of the shocking things you learn when you eat fish bait is that salmon eggs are actually damned salty, so that the dish tastes like little bursts of salt crystal shattering over a rich morning breakfast egg flavor (the quail egg). It’s a man-up kind of dish, but nonetheless, illuminating.

I am not a big sushi guy but a bunch of my buddies are. The most disgusting thing I think I have ever seen was a “Dessert Tray” that was at this famous sushi joint in north jersey. It came on this Asian/Far Eastern looking scaled down model bridge. The “Desserts” were adorned over the bridge….one item was some kind of orange brain coral…really nasty.

But the saki and peas from those place are great.

Sounds like you are celebrating in all the right ways!
