Cameron, looks like you have the same lack of sleeping habits I have. I was trying to find the fish painting that you did. I really liked it and think people would be impressed.
Dave – I love the bug.
Kids seem to have an inspiration that pulls out the creative nature in all of us. I know that there are some extremely talented folks on this board and within the whole fly fishing community. The ones that i have called out or mentioned are the ones that I have got to know through this site and cannot wait to get the chance to meet. Fly fishing in general tends to attract a more creative set of folks (at least in comparison to the bait slingin beer bongers)
I believe the art shows up through the entire sport. Look at all the artfully created videos and podcast that popping up and the wonderful photographs from so many fly fishers. You look at the sport as a whole and you see the subtle artfully created designs from top to bottom. Each fly we use is artfully created and each stand alone to be their own little work of art. The rods and reels we use are beautifully crafted. Some of the bamboo craftsmanship is so amazing that people are scared to use it for its purpose but we use it and admire it when also admiring the wonders of the natural world around us. Even to the boats fly fisherman tend to use. Simple in design and function, yet elegant and beautiful – A good drift boat or a flats skiff are both simple yet elegant, Especially in comparison to the sparkly boats with the Alabama chrome and high tech gadgets.
