Hello from Atlanta, GA. I think this is a great site you guys have with a ton of great articles and information.
I mostly fish the Hooch as it is right near my backyard, but I also love going to the coast or up to Michigan where I have some family.

It is. From the DH section too, I believe it to be a holdover.My personal best on any portion of the hooch is this 24″er. Unfortunately, there was no one around to take a decent pic.
Nice job Mike. I would wager it was a several year holdover. You catch it recently? My understanding is they’ve stopped stocking the Hooch below Buford Dam with browns.

Both were caught last year. Below Buford dam, stocking of browns has been stopped for about 5 years (to my understanding). Below Morgan Falls Dam in the delayed harvest section, they stock a brown /rainbow mix every winter. With an unusually cool water temp summer due to an increase in releases from Buford Dam, I would expect several hold-overs to be lurking around the MFD area.

Zach, its been 4 years I believe since we have stocked brownies in the upper hooch (maybe longer!). Its frustrating to see that we regulate harvest on a section that has about a 1% holdover rate and let folks chicken pick fish out of the portion healthy enough to sustain a natural population of browns. I could really get going but I will stay focused….
