Anyone have any advice on places to trout fish near Ventura, CA? I’m going to be out there over the 4th for a wedding but I will have time to kill while certain bachelorette activities are taking place.
I thought about a saltwater rod but frankly the Pacific surf species seem strangely anemic. So trout it is. I miss trout anyway.

I don’t know much about California, but I did go after golden trout in Sequoia National Forest. I can’t remember the exact stream, but water conditions were so low that the trout were trapped in shallow pools with very little running water. I found them but didn’t have the heart to cast a fly at them. It may have been Tuohy Creek, but I’m not sure.
