MemberEric,
We’re not all bad, really, trust me… 😉
Zach,
Telluride is a pretty darn good place to practice law.

Mike McKeownMemberI am also new to the forum, unfortunately, I don’t live in Telluride, but how I would love to…
I am in Johannesburg, South Africa, and even though you guys mainly talk about your neck of the woods, I really enjoy reading your posts. I am a small stream fanatic and have been fishing since the early ’90, and guiding over the last couple of years.
I don’t have trout 5 minutes down the road, but I can stocky bash 3 hours away, but to get to my little piece of heaven, I need to drive for 8 hours… however, we are lucky enough to have an incredible array of indigenous species known as Yellow Fish, there are 9 variants, each having their own unique characters and environments.
Enough about me, I am sure I will be imputing a little South African here and there…
Jay – you have to be kidding me that a 2 bed, 1 bathroom, 557 sq foot shack is going for 1.4m$, hell that’s like, I can’t explain… hell that’s a bucket of money for a tiny garage???

Mike,
Yes, that is the right price. Â That is why I don’t live in town and I rent and don’t own. Â The entire Town is a National Historic District and it is very difficult to build here. Â There is also very little vacant land in town, so the prices are really high. Â Of course when Jerry Seinfeld buys a $7,750,000 vacation home here (among many other stars), it also drives up the cost.
But, on the upside, this is my local river…

This from a place where a crescent wrench is a “shifting spanner” (went to school with a fellow from Johannesburg). I love it! Welcome Mike and Jay where ever you are from and whatever you do

That had me for a second… I have a few more for you, but if you don’t get it first time, just ask..
Thanks Scott, I really like the site Zach has got some really good stuff on it. Just listened to the interview with the Scott CEO. Awesome…
Zach, any way you can get the file size down, we here in darkest Africa have bandwidth problems… my ADSL connection is only 256, with a cap at 2 gig, and yes I hit it every month, right now I’m over my limit…

MemberDear all,
All the talk about money and house sizes has got me thinking; there is a lesson here.

Mike McKeownMemberIn response to a PM…
Yellow fish are in no way related to Carp, they are a species to their own, and one of the oldest on the world. There is even a relative in India, and if you know anything about continental drift you will understand how ancient the species is.
There are 9 species in South Africa and 11 in total. They range from maximum size from 2Kg’s to 20Kg’s. The Large Mouth is the granddaddy of the lot, attaining up to 20Kg’s. I have attached a picture of a relatively small, probably a male, specimen.
They are restricted to River system and we are trying our best to restrict their movements, as they are quite susceptible to cross breeding.
The introduction of alien species has devastated their populations, with Large and Small Mouth Bass being the main culprits. (Bloody Foreigners’) 🙂 🙂 Although trout have been in the country for over 100 years, their impact is limited, as their environmental needs are completely different.

Mike McKeownMemberSome times you have to pay to enjoy yourself no matter what the size.
Agreed, quality sticks make fish an experience… sometimes it’s not about the fish, it’s about the fishing…
