Thats one of the reason I opened this topic, I’m trying to know if there is any other tippet material, as good as Grand max, but cheaper.

Cabela’s offers it (Gmax) in 100 yard spools for $39.99, which brings the cost per foot down to a level more in line with the competition.  I haven’t found 7X in 100 yard spools yet, but I’m told that it’s available.

The only fluorocarbon I’ve used are Rio fluoro, orvis fluoro, and the cabela’s and bass pro brands. I didn’t care for the cabela’s or bass pro brands. They both seemed brittle. But I do really like both the Rio and orvis.

I’d be intested to know why you feel the grand max is the best or better than the rio if you have tried it as well.

    Greg,
My opinion of it is purely subjective.

I appreciate the info subjective or not. I’m always looking for something new and better. But since I’m not independantly wealthy I do have to balance cost in there as well. I think I’ll pick up a spool and give it a whirl.

    thanks,

    Greg

Thaks a lot to everyone for the info. I’ll get those 100 yard spools that Flatlander has seen at Cabela’s.
