Wild woodies are a rare find in this part of the Rockies.  It’s always exciting to come across these drakes.

Great find Brett, the comp is perfect and I love the reflection in the rippled water.

Nice ones, wood ducks have always been my favorites. My dad and brother duck hunt, so I grew up looking at pictures of ducks and going out with my dad when he hunted.

By the way, the head feathers of a mallard can make for an interesting hackle on small soft hackle flies.
