I also have trouble seeing them and as a result don’t use them much. I have a half dozen that really look nice when they’re lined up neatly in my flybox.
I was listening to a podcast lately that talked of fly patterns catch more anglers than trout and the Goodard Caddis was mentioned…as when was the last time you saw a caddis in the air with two short strands of hard mono coming out the front of it’s head…
Kind of like two flyfishermen fishing in February, one fishing with micro midges and not catching anything, and one using a size 12 royal wulff and catching large browns…

The Goddard caddis as you know it was in fact a fly that both Cliff Henry and John Goddard innovated, Cliff being a friend of Johns , who worked with him to publish a book called Trout
