    This is kinda funny.

I bought a replacement cover for my Nikon D70’s LCD screen recently (I had lost my original in the Buffalo).

If you look on eBay for a Nikon D70 screen you’ll see a ton of them for sale, all labelled “FOR NIKon D70.”  Presumably the aftermarket brand is the ‘FORNIK’ company and they are ripping off Nikon with this cheap imitation.

I had tried to buy the original Nikon screencover a couple times and couldn’t find it, so I went ahead and placed an order on eBay, but I CAREFULLY SEARCHED to find a screen cover without any labels.  I just didn’t want to support such a shoddy rip off (I only support good to excellent ripoffs! ;))

Well, guess what arrived?  A brand new FOR NIKon D70 screen cover, complete with shady logo.  My seller, kawaphoto, had directly stated in its auction that “The image above is exactly what you will get.”  Had they been more ambiguous I’d have let it slide but it just rubbed me the wrong way, so I left negative feedback: “Pictured item NOT the same as what arrived. Cheap Fake Logo on bottom of Cover! “

Welcome to the world of eBay.  Guess who left me negative feedback too?  Kawaphoto.  I had paid immediately by PayPal; this is a straight-up reciprocation for me calling them on their crap.  Well, I’m a 25-sale feedback guy and they are a 1,000+ sale outfit.  However, I don’t rely on eBay for my livelihood, and Kawaphoto was nice enough to leave a rude feedback that clearly states: “CONTACT YOUR SELLER 1ST WITH ANY PROBLEMS. TAKE THIS AS A LESSON LEARNED.Z

”  I figure it’ll be obvious to anyone with half a brain who is being screwed here.

So, per what has become standard eBay-culture

Zach the feed back system is unfair and nobody uses it like it was intended to be used anymore and Ebay won’t do anything about it. Once an item has been paid for, feedback should be left for the buyer, not wait to see what the buyer says about your crappy product. I made mine private. I have a good score which is visible but the feedback comments good and bad can not be read. I had a guy buy a prop and email me questions about it after he won!! He decided it was not what he wanted (wasn’t a left hand rotation prop for twin OB’s,,, well duhhh!.)
