Does anyone have any experience with this rod? I am looking at a 6wt for smallmouth fishing. Any input greatly appreciated. Can you recommend any other fast action rods in a 6wt also… thanks!

A 6 wt Scott Heliply would be nice if you can find one, the TFO TiCr is nice too not as fancy though.

I use a 5wt StreamDance GLX for smallies and like it a lot – don’t know what the difference is between the CrossCurrent and the StreamDance series.

Crosscurents are designed to be used in saltwater, Streamdances are meant for freshwater only. The rod itself is probably very similar, but the reel seats and guides are usually anodized aluminuim instead of wood and chromed nickel.

Just a fast (or slower) rod won’t cut it.
For example a bonefish rod (say Sage 890 XP) is made to cast small flies (crazy cahrlies etc.) into windy flats. This same rod won’t do well when fishing for pike with large wind resistant bunnies. For larger and more wind resistance flies you need a rod that is more back bone in terms of stronger tip and mid section. Probably a rod with a thicker walled blank rather than the thin walled fast blanks.
