Cameron MortensonMemberRecently I picked up a 50mm 1.8f lens for my Nikon D70s and have been enjoying it quite a bit.
Thanks especially to Neal Osborn for trading text messages, emails, and phone calls and helping step my photography up a bit.
Over the past few weeks I have covered a couple fly fishing events in North Carolina and spent a few hours on the water photographing strictly with the 50mm lens.
Shooting with the 50mm lens on the water by myself was a little tough to get good fish photos with but will be interesting to use when fishing with someone else.
Here are a few of my favorites over the past several weeks. All were shot with whatever light was in the room or outside. No flash.

Matt JonesMemberThat is a rad lens. I can’t wait until I get something like that. I love the depth of field capabilities you can get with the 1.8 lens. Great photos!

MemberThe fish shots are great Cameron – the eyes are sharp and the out-of-focus on the net adds depth.
I still love the tying series in natural light next to window (second from the bottom). Very cool and realistic.

MemberI’m thinking one of these might end up in my camera bag in the near future with my ‘control freak’, pretty ‘sweet’! Shoots pretty close too.

MemberI have their ‘control freak’ (see attachments) and love it, although its poor optics and slow handling really limited it’s use. This thing adds some better glass and an internal aperture. Cool!

MemberGreat work Cameron
If you are on a Nikon this a great way of controling limited DOF when working wide open. It’s a 8mm angled extension tube that can be rotated through 360 degs. Takes a bit of getting used too . I use it a lot all the way down to Nikkor 20 mm wide angles /wide open for wide angle macro stuff. The tube can be rotated to control the angle the plane of DOF is covering.
Hope an Ebay link is ok Zach? I have no connection to the listing or creator.
Hope that helps
Will
ps I want closeups of those great looking stonefly patterns!!!!!!!!!!!
