MemberI’m a conflicted man. Every year about this time I begin a 5 month internal battle that consists of me, my constant urges to fish the Fall, and the most wonderful (other most wonderful) thing the earth has ever known…..college football (SEC in particular.) I realize many of you probably consider fishing to be more important than football. I’m one of those that love both, and couldn’t pick one over the other. I’ve spent many days floating the White or Norfork while listenting to some pretty memorable football games. I was wondering…..who has the best football and/or v. fishing story??

The Itinerant AnglerWell, I do know this guy who is planning to get married in the fall, and he is so obsessed with college football that he made sure his wedding fell on the day of an away game so he could be certain all his groomsmen would show (and also so he could keep his mind in the game, so to speak).

MemberThe start football season is an event that i wait for all summer. It sognals the coming of fall and the exodus of crowds on the river during weekends. I can’t wait for football to start so i can go to my local river (upper colorado) and fish on the weekend w/o so damn many people.
Once elk season starts and we get the first snow the crowds drop off even more.

Memberi really only watch dc united games on tv and will tune in for other games if nothing else is on.
going to a home game entails ‘watching’ but it is mostly jumping (RFK stands go up and down about 1 foot when we jump) singing, drums, smoke bombs, beer showers, chanting, etc. and with tix from $18-30 with me being front row on the 40 every home game, i can’t resist (and we are sponsored by peroni- 2 kegs/tailgate)
most of us tape the game and watch it when we get home or the bars on the hill replay them when everyone trickles in.
tune in on wed night:
02 Sep 2009 07:30 PM to 10:30 PM
League: United States – Open Cup
Channel: Fox Soccer Channel
Live/Repeat: Live
i don’t take road trips to follow bands anymore but used to skip shows for steelhead trips.

MemberZach,
Your wedding story hits home. Â My older brother is getting married this year on October 3rd, which happens to be the same day as the Michigan v. MSU game. Â I am a Michigan alum and bleed maize and blue, and my younger brother (the one not getting married) is currently a spartan. Â Needless to say, we’ll be sneaking out to check the score periodically throughout the event.
Tim
Several years ago, a good buddy planned his wedding on the same day as a big game that ALL of the groomsmen wanted to watch.
