Sounds like the year of the rods.

?? I’ve just been reading all about the hardy ultralite reels made in Korea.

There is some thing printed on the reel.

    M Wood –

Probably the Sage ONE 5 weight within 80′ and the Ross RX 8 weight were the best new rods I threw.

Juan, I think you’re right in that the Hardy reels are designed in England. They certainly look great and I’ll be getting one for my #10 (8000DD).

    Best Regards,

Thanks for the input on the new Hardy reel. I am getting a #5 wgt. Zenith rod (I love it’s action) and I was thinking of getting the new Hardy Reel. I didn’t see anything during Zach’s blogging so I was wondering if it was worth buying or not. I have several older, made in England Hardy reels, so I will probably just stick with them.

The Montana boat box looks cool.

The Montana fly box caught my eye as well.

Yeah that box was seriously my favorite thing at the show.  $50!  That is a great deal.  I am pretty sure the panel will have to be purchased separately.  I’m going to split my big trout flies out from my striper patterns (which are in a Bugger Beast).

Zach I agree with you on the ONE’s, these are just straight out fishing rods in the normal fishing range and that’s good to see. Sage seem to have gone down this path over the last few releases, I think the VXP is also very much a straight up fishing rod. I suspect that the “Technical casting rod style will be restricted entirely to the TC range. The Zaxis the ONE replaced was still not bad on the long stuff. The 5 weight ONE is very sweet.

I don’t usually comment negatively on products but I had my hands on a BVK reel a couple of weeks ago. The retailer whose store I was in said it was going to sell for $300 here in Oz. It felt to me like a typical Chinese made crap reel that wholesales out of that country for less than $20 – it was very poorly finished with sharp edges all over the place. I don’t know about the internal workings but I would be very suspicious……
