MemberFish and Fly is a favorite of mine as well. Am just about to subscribe to American Angler. Flylife the mag that Wet has mentioned is a great publication and Fly Angler is also worth reading if you are into saltwater. I also subscribe to fly fishing in saltwaters.
Unfortunatley the UK’s fly fishing publications leave alot to be desired. Fly fishing and Fly Tying and Salmon and trout are the only magazines I purchase here.
Cheers

MemberThe Drake, Fly Rod & Reel, and thisisfly.com are about the best going I think!

InactiveUse to subscribe to Fly Fisherman but nothing except destination fishing articles that I will never see (this side of winning the lottery or marrying Elle McPhearson) got a bit old.
4 years ago or so I switched over to American Angler and really like it. I have seen some minor shifting in this magazine too…in an undesired direction as well. But I must say that it still has much better “technical” articles than most others. While I dont mind the occasional “Peacock Bass in Virgin South American Waters” once in while I much prefer the “Polish Nymphing”. Zach’s article in Switch Rods was very informative and applicable to some of the fisheries I frequent.

MemberI have one issue of Flylife left 😉 😉 😉 surprised me how fast they sold
I think we are about the only outlet outside of Down Under, only because somehow they lower their standards to accept some of my work LOl.
Truly is a great mag, even though Im biased. Regular fly columns are very good, you’ll get to see some great destinations and the tactics stuff can be pretty cutting edge.
Otherwise I like the Drake these days, Fish and Fly Wild On The Fly and then I read most for what might be interesting.
After I posted this I reread Seafood’s comments on rehashing. Its the nature of the beast, given dry fly or nymphing has been written about for almost 150 years, there is only so many ways you actually can nymph.
As a writer and Im sure Zach will agree, neither of us have anything radically new in techniques up our sleeves (Neither of us have a hovering fly LOL) but the trick is packaging that information in a new way, or at least an interesting way.The other thing to remeber is that while you or I may have been reading these articles for a decade or two, there is a constant supply of new fly fishers, or new readers who want these types of articles and to them this is new.
Cheers

MemberI subscribe to American Angler and Fly rod and reel. I like them both but like american angler the best. I also pick up a copy of the freebie Fly Fish America every month at my local fly shop. I have to say I like it almost as well as American Angler. For a “free” magazine (and I’m sure a limited budget) they do a good job. Even their gear reviews are done well in my opinion.

MemberI tend to pick up most of the ones that are sold in the shops. My favorite would have to be Flyfishing & Tying Journal. Maybe if I stop looking at all the pictures and put some time into reading the articles maybe it would help me catch more fish 😕

I could have inserted any “article” in there…I just typed something random…the first thing that popped into my head.
