I’d like to harass some tarpon / snook the first week of April in the Flamingo area.

Can anyone recommend a good guide? I’d prefer to launch out of the Flamingo Marina if the fish are close by. I’d also prefer the fly rod but will sling hardware if it means hooking fish.

    TIA…… Steve

I’d try to get in touch with a fly shop down that way. They should know a few guides that can get you where you want to go and fishing how you care to fish.

I’ll check with a couple friends and see if they are still fishing out of Flamingo. Most guides I know in the area are in the Keys in April chasing Tarpon. They have had a pretty cold/wet winter down there so personally, I’d be headed to the Everglades for Snook….
Give me  a day or two and I’ll get you some names….

    Thanks Rick.

I’ve had several recommendations for Captain Benny Blanco (http://www.fishingflamingo.com). I spoke with him today and he said the same regarding tarpon….although he did say not to rule them out. He said snook fishing should be good.

He said we could make a run to Islamorada if the tarpon are bayside chasing mullet. Looks like I’ll book with Captain Benny but thanks for your input.
