I saw where Fishpond was partnering with HSUS (Humane Society of the United States) regarding shark fishing tournaments.
It troubled me that a company that makes and sells fishing gearwould partner with a group who historically has been no friend to hunters and fishermen.
I wrote to Fishpond asking for clarification and got the following response.

I think they are foolish to support HSUS. Very foolish. They share the same radical agenda as PETA IMO. I’ll also not be buying from them.
I quit eating at Quizno’s over their sponsorship of shark tournaments, but they steadfastly refuse to go bankrupt. 😉
The HSUS’s position on shark finning is entirely consonant with CCA’s http://www.joincca.org/TIDE/7%20signs.html.
I don’t think Fish Pond would jump in bed with PETA or anyone that has the same agenda.
As for sharks and shark finning, people need to read “Fly Fishing In Saltwaters”. The new March/April Issue. Article is Trouble In Eden. Also has a photo of a finned shark.
I don’t own but one piece of Fish Pond equipment, but won’t hesitate to buy more. Fish Pond knows where their bread is buttered.A simple search on google will tell you all you want to know about HSUS. Whether you agree with their position or not is entirely up to you. As a sportsman I could never align myself with a group like this.

It is frustrating to look at their website, see some of their causes that seem important and then see the slop they post about dove hunting. Give me a break with the dove hunting stuff.
Guys I think the thing to do here is to write fishpond directly to make your arguments. I’ve got a longstanding no politics rule here and even though no one has crossed any lines, I just don’t think this conversation can end well. I am going to lock this thread but I’ll leave it up so your comments can be seen.
