Get your hands on a copy of Trout Fishing in the Shenandoah National Park (ISBN: 0962255505 / 0-9622555-0-5)
    by Harry Murray (1989).

I do most of my trout fishing in SNP and am quite familiar with the waters. I’ve been up there quite a bit recently and the water level are horrible. Hopefully we’ll get some rain before you come.

Shoot me a pm if you want some suggestions. Murray’s book is alright but some of the stream information is quite general or outdated in the case of a couple of those waters.

You can also call Harry’s shop in Edinburg, VA. http://www.murraysflyshop.com/

For flies, you shouldn’t need anything fancy.

We have a PA fly fishing website up here that hosts really good stream reports, anything like that in VA?

Give this board a try.  The Georgia and Alabama boards are great, but I am unfamilar with the content of the Virgina board.
