    After seeing the topic “why do flyfishermen cover their faces”,  I gotta ask something I have been wondering about for years.

    Why do the fish in almost all of the grip and grin photos have their eyes swiveled down to the water.  It’s like they are so focused on getting back into the water.   ::)

    Someone told me once that it’s an indication of the fish’s health/stress.

    Possibly but I’m sticking with shame. It too has zero scientific proof.

    Well, I think we can all agree that a live ashamed fish is better than a dead one that’s not.

    I’m sure it has more to do with the fact that they have no eyelids and they’re trying to not be totally blinded by the light.  

    Or they just want to avoid being wrapped up like a dace, another runner in the night…

    Actually, I think the original fishing version was “wrapped up like a dace, another cunner in the night”, dace and cunner both being fish species, you know.

    But Springsteen really messed it up, and then the Earth Band, well….
