First kayak trip with my Daughter.

Finally got the Kayaks out yesterday for a fun float down the Stones River. It was cool as hell to see some of the pieces of river I used to fish as a kid again. Lots and lots of gorgeous uncrowded river to explore. Some class II mixed in as well…
This was alot scarier then it looks. But the lowhead dam was the highlight of the trip. Neither of us flipped but I came close. Watching my 13 year old face her fear and take on some class II water all alone was priceless. If you have kids this is a must! can’t believe I waited this long…
The fishing was good and I wasn’t even trying. Can’t wait to go back and do it again. In all we floated 10 miles I think. It was a hoot and we met a few other boaters who warned about the rougher sections. Really nice folks. IMO this is a much better time then Trout fishing in the summer crowds. May start running some trips here soon. Got a new sponsor Jackson Kayaks, who is going to help me out in that regard…

Nope that is my youngest. My oldest is attending UTC getting her Nursing degree. I wish she could have been there too. I’m picking up a couple of the Jackson Coosa’s and plan to use them to yakpack some rivers this fall. We’ve been gathering all the lightweight camping equipment and all that’s left is a couple of Thermarest pads and maybe bivy sacks. Can’t decide if I want to use my tent or just pick up a couple Bivys.
We’ve also been playing around with lots of packable food ideas from here and youtube. Can’t wait to get the boats!Mike, if you dislike those faster sections, you’d hate my home water.
Just remember to always go straight into the rapids.Dave we don’t have a shortage of nasty rivers around here either. The Ocoee, Nantahala, Upper Caney Fork, Tellico, just to name a few. I’m in now way in shape as a paddler to take on any of those rivers. I hope to get there in the next few years though.
