I had a birthday in December, and combine that with cash gifts for the holidays I had just enough to get a better camera. My last camera was a Nikon Coolpix L18, and I hated it for taking fly photos. It was good for everything else though. So I upgraded to a Canon SX120 IS. I was looking at the manual (which why they discarded a book I have no idea…it is via software now on the computer)…it said if the lcd had one of those plastic cling protectors on the lcd screen to take it off before I use the camera. Well there wasn’t one on there. I bought some screen protectors though at Target, and had just placed one on the screen right before I read that. They are made by Targus and are screen shields for cameras, video recorders, mp3 players etc… Will this harm my camera if I use it I wonder? It is not the same as the kind they stick on for protection from the manufacturer, these are not as thick. They have slight adhesion on the back of the film, so they are not static cling, where the others aren’t…at least not to my knowledge.
I emailed Canon about this, just in case someone suggests that, to get their opinion on this.
