MemberHey folks, it has been a while since I’ve posted a fly tying tutorial here on the board. Basically, that is because I have been spending most of my time learning videography and video editing software. The ultimate goal is to eventually offer a new multimedia platform for fly art with both high resolution macro photography and HD macro video. Unfortunately, video has a different set of challenges from photography, especially in regard to the macro/close-up shots needed for fly tying.
With that in mind, I have finally completed my first video tutorial. The subject includes tying the Enrico Puglisis Bait Fish pattern. This was produced, edited, tied, and narrated by myself. This project certainly has it’s fair share of limitations and mistakes, but I’m learning and adapting. Therefore, any input would be appreciated – especially what aspects you find helpful or distracting (for example, a few early reviews have suggested that the “fast forward” tying sequence is a bit distracting and the voice over is rather sterile). Any suggestions for future tutorials?
I am unable to link the videos directly on this site. You will need to visit another page to see them (apologies to Zach).

Sharp clear shots, good instructional explanation. Your voice is very calm and clear.
Well done and I hope to see more of your videos soon. How about some videos of your fishing trips?

MemberLong time lurker, first time poster. Lots of great info and pleasant discussion here.
Neal, thanks for the great tutorial.
I picked up 4 packages of EP fibers about 5 years ago and never took the time to learn the “drill”. This stuff is pretty nice to work with. The pink is not EP material, although I might have to pick some up.
Thanks again!

MemberHello Mark! Welcome to the site. I’m glad that the tutorial was helpful and that fly looks good – double hook nonetheless, nice. That looks like a fingerling Rainbow trout.

MemberThanks for your comments, Neal. I agree about the eye size. That is the largest I have in stock at the moment and stuck in on for the pic. I also plan to spot it up a bit with a black sharpie. The fly is actually articulated ala “Galloup” method.
Is this the wig hair stuff you are referring to?

Peter E.MemberNeal, that tutorial was the best thing since sliced bread! Keep em’ Coming!
Mark lemme say that my experience has alwasy been that for the most part fish are looking for the right action, the right profile, and the right general color. In that order and if it does those three things you’re very likely to get a hook up. JMO, and great looking fly, ought to ace a pike or stripe.
