MemberThis year there are two flyfishing shows in Denver, during the same time. The Flyfishing Show, and the new AFFTA show.
I understand that there has been drama between the organizations putting on the shows, but I do not have a dog in the fight. As a simple consumer, and flyfishing fan, I just want to go to the best one.
So, if anyone has been keeping up with what is going on, which show would you recommend?
Thanks
Mike

Joel ThompsonMemberHey PoudreRiver do you have dates for those show? I would love to make it down for at least one of them on the company dime.
Morsie if you end up only going to one of them let me know which one as I would love to meet you. Enjoy your podcast so much I would love to hear some stories in person.

http://www.flyfishingshowwest.com/Kinda silly having two consumer shows, both sides having drawn lawyers over “celebrity” attendees.
We were looking hard at coming out to exhibit at the FF Show, when it was the only game in town, anyway we are sitting it out and see what happens this year rather than blowing our dough picking the wrong one.
besides we have enough headaches moving into our new shop lolMorsie are you doing the January consumer Shows or coming out in September for the Trade Show. More fishing on offer in the US in September LOl
And my offer of some fishing still stands if you can tear yourself from the steelies lol!
Cheers

MemberI’ll be at the Denver trade show 14-16 September – Moosedog I can tell you my latest story from New Zealand – quicksand, and it was a close shave – 5D around my neck and water over the top of my waders. Unpleasant and lucky to still be here. I think my waterproof camera backpack slowed my sink rate just enough to allow me to turn around and get out. Only mental scars and a heightened caution about crossing backwaters. 😛

Simon ChuMemberPoudre, I have only experienced the AFFTA Tradeshow where I met Steve, Zach and many others. It was an amazing event from a first timer’s point of view. I’d love to go back.
Morsie did no-one warn you about quicksand! 😮 ::)
I’d have looked after your cameras for ya! You sure the other boys weren’t just eyeing up your rod collection?!I’d also vouch for the fishing opportunities in the US in Sept! Just awesome. 🙂

MemberMate I reckon they would have been dividing up the gear while I was still flailing – “Before you go under pass us your vest and camera bag and just throw the rod!!!!”
My plan is drive north with a couple of mates (Rich and Carl) up through Monatana and Idaho then on to BC for some steelheading. I hear the timing’s pretty good. Been wanting to go steelheading for a long time.

MemberThanks for info… for some reason, last year was the first year I hit the show, even though it has been right under my nose.
