Long story short, I’ve got a Ross Colorado 2 and I’m wondering if you can turn the “click” off without dismantling the drag.

    Why man, why?

Sorry, I just feel that the Ross “click” is the sexiest reel noise out there.

    I know, I know, it’s a classic sound, isn’t it.

Not possible, Gary; the clicker is the only check against free-spooling with that model.

    There’s no disputing about taste?

    I like that one.

Try wearing headphones with nature sounds turned way up to drown out the sound of the click.

hehehe Spencer, one of my kids uses that nature noise to fall asleep by. g

I’d PM ya with an offer, but since I already have a new saltwater rig coming, I wouldn’t get to keep the Ross in the divorce that would surely follow.

Because of this hard click I dropped the idea of getting the Ross Gunisson as my reel of choice a decade ago.
The Ross reel looked (and still does) very handsome, built to last and had a great drag. But the clicker was so noisy!…

Now when I fish my bamboo rods I prefer matching it with a classic reel being either an Orvis CFO III, Hardy Perfect or a Winston Perfect. And guess what? These reels are NOISY! But a sweet noise it is when a fish runs.

So, maybe you should just enjoy the clicker and start catching those big fish! 😉

Ironically, the clicker on the Gunnison is completely cosmetic and removable!
