Death of Dave Foster

Hey guys –

I wasn’t going to post about this but I just finished reading some kind-hearted but wildly inaccurate reports on this on other boards.

Dave Foster, who wrote “David Foster’s Journal” and who edited Gray’s Sporting Journal for a number of years, lost his battle with cancer last week.  His memorial service is scheduled for Monday evening in Augusta, Georgia – I’m going, but as a friend of the family, and I’m sorry to say that I don’t know if it is open to the public or not.

Dave was widely known and liked for his contributions to Gray’s and for his editorial writing through his Journal and his blog.  Prior to working for Gray’s he was the editor of both New Orleans and Atlanta magazines.

Obviously, Gray’s has already been in the capable hands of Jim Babb for the last two years.  It is not going anywhere – that was part of the inaccuracy I read elsewhere.
