Davidson River trip- after a long business trip

Well after a long week of business traveling, I decided to stay the weekend in Brevard, NC.

Tom, great post and thanks for sharing the pictures – that’s what makes the trip reports so great.  One of the pictures is right downstream from the PhD hole – so called because the big trout there are so smart you need a PhD to catch em.  I’m surprised that your pictures don’t have more people shown because the Davidson has become a “shoulder-to-shoulder” river and the crowds can be unbearable sometimes.  

BTW, the Galvan Torque is one of my favorite reels.

I took my stream pictures late in the evening, everyone cleared out around 7pm.

That drainage is in horrible shape right now. I made a trip to the upper part about a month ago for some wild fish and found the water was so skinny i had to turn around and go somewhere else. Western NC, Western SC, and Eastern TN are in serious need of some good rain. Almost all of the streams in those areas are just pathetic right now, as they have been since last spring.
