Last year I punctured a pair of Orvis SilverLabel Highback waders that I had for about 4 years and fished the hell out of (actually I put a ton of different holes in them over the course of TroutBum that they were a lost cause).

    Matt-

Seriously, dude, for that much money I would be going Simms or Patagonia for the sole reason that they have a warranty.

    Listen to this.

I will get to the Simms waders eventually — but the 2XL’s that I have tried on just aren’t big enough for me during winter fishing.

Simms will custom-make waders for bigger anglers.

I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about the D. Bailey’s waders. I’m gonna get a pair of the waist highs this winter.

The Dan Bailey waders are the best wader on the market for the price. They have about the same durability as the Simms Guide. I have used the Bailey lightweight, Simms Guide, and G3 over the last couple seasons.

The waders themselves are made in Korea. The material that they are made of is called Entrant-HB, here is a link to the company that makes the material.

Fly-shops with no affiliation (i.e., Orvis) can get ’em. I know that Craig Miller at Serenity Now Outfitters in Lewisburg, WV sells Dan Baileys waders. I’ve heard great things about ’em for years. As a matter of fact, one of the guys I fish with the most has a pair that’s about 15 years old and while the material has changed a lot in those years and he has several pairs of more modern waders he swears that he could drag out the old Baileys and they still don’t leak a drop.
