It was just one of those days>:(  Crap to say the least. So I pulled out the big tying guns and the Tuffle Eye and got busy on some damsel fly nymphs while cranking Gabriel and Dresden http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=167068975&s=143441.

Much better now.  I can’t wait for spring warm water fishing!

    Who needs Yoga?

No tying instructions on this one.

I love that fly and have a few that I bought from Orvis.  They are killer.  Have you figured out how to tie that cinch at the distal tail?

i don’t braid the tail, i tie in the feathers and pinch the tip of the tail with my left hand and somewhow wrap up the feather to the tail-like on a coffin fly, then do 4-5 loops around the feathers just in front of where my fingertips are holding it. then i wrap back down.

this is my go to fly when fishing warm water. it is deadly. drop it off a bass bug on the local lake and the potomac too.

i’ve tied it in various colors and have fished it in the salt, a pink one got me a lizard fish in kauai.

The Orvis pattern is quiet similar to the one I sometimes tie.

    ooo, i like the legs.
a little more intricate than mine but i’m sure just as deadly.

    are you weaving your tail?

Thanks, yes I do a Flemish weave with the marabou seperated into three, basically it’s similar to how twine or rope is twisted together.
