    Zach et al,

I took the plunge tonight and ordered:

NIKON D70S Digital SLR Camera Kit with 18-70mm and 55-200mm Nikkor Lenses

I know the 55-200mm has not received very flattering reviews but I got it pretty cheap with the kit. What the hey. Also ordered a 2 gig memory card. My next purchase will be an extra lithium battery and a Pelican case.

My question is this: What should be my next addition, the SB600 (or 800) speedlight, another lens, tripod, more memory….what do you suggest?

I do the same type photography as you…lots of fishing related photos, some landscapes, closeups of insects, dogs, etc.

I’ve got three major events coming up that hopefully help justify the purchase:

-parents 50th wedding anniversary in April (reception planned / indoor shots)
    – Yellowstone/Grand Teton in May / landscapes / wildlife
-Alaska in August / salmon fishing, landscapes, wildlife, etc (Pelican case used here!)

    I’d really appreciate everyone’s imput.

I would say the SB-600, then a wide angle lens.

I echo the SB-600. There are a TON of possibilities — if you learn how to use it correctly — to make outstanding, quality photos. I’ve recently been doing a lot of stuff with the remote flash and it’s totally changed the look of some of my photos. (For the better, and that’s always a good thing.)

    Thanks guys!

I’m trying to score a Lowepro bag and the SB600 will be next. Camera should be here tomorrow according to FedEx.
