    Zach,

    I’ve looked into housings for my D70s and I found (just like you) that it is cost prohibitive. A good strobe set would probably cost as much or more than the housing 🙁

    I’ve used a regular old glass fish tank with good results for under water and split surface photos. It’s a trick to use in moving water, you need an extra set of hands to hold the tank down and you can’t see through the viewfinder unless you have a right angle attachment. But it does work well in a pinch.
    Ewa-Marine makes soft underwater cases for cameras that are good down to about 30 feet and are between $200-300, alot less then the hard cases that are well over a grand
