    Hi Guys,
Now have the bug for tubes and going to at least get a tube tool for my set-up,

Looking at the vast array of cones and tubes on the market,
Does it become hard to get the right mandrel or do you stick to one make and size?

I’m about to make an order for some cones and tubes,
That many sizes to choose from?

    Regards,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,

It turned into a major mess when I first got started; I ended up with a ton of different diameter tubes and mandrels and stuff that didn’t match up and tubes frozen onto steel a lot.

    Much appreciated Justin,
Great info, the diam of tubes is something I would have never envisage being a future problem,
yes the allen wrench has worked OK, just don’t want to damage my “new” jaws, recently replaced them after many years,
I did bind some thread on one end of the wrench but soon cuts away,
    Next mission,
    Some tube poppers!
    Regards,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,

I would consider using a lead-wrap for the portion of the wrench that actually makes contact with the vise.

    Tks for the tips Justin,
I can see these tube flies now being a large proportion of my “arsenal”
The snook were slamming the tube fly on the surface so poppers should be a lot of fun

Will see how the tubes work on our snapper on Tuesday,
    Thanks again,
    Regards,
    Gary
