Spent last week on the White and Norfolk rivers. Generation is finally backing off a bit, but for the most part, there is little wading, at least on the White. We did have two days of good windows of wading on the Norfolk where the fishing was great. The White fished ok, we floated two days and waded two days. The weather messed us up a day but I still fished close to the house where we stayed. Hoppers worked fairly well, stimulators and adams. The red or black zebra midge was very hard to beat as a dropper. I had previously floated all the water down to Rim Shoals and this trip we went from Rim to Buffalo Shoals. Another pretty stretch of water and fewer people. It did not fish all that well, but we did have some nice fish later in the day on streamers. I don’t think I’ve ever floated a hopper through longer distances of great looking water and not hardly had a bump. Maybe just a off day. All in all, another fun trip to a great area with a lot of fishing options.

Yes, they were at the bottom of the lower island. There one day, gone the next. Some bruisers in the mix I mean. Absolutely not interested in eating. Lots of others were though. If you walk up there when you go, notice the left side of the island, which would actually be river right, if you have been there before, you would remember a slow shallow channel there. Most of it now is one big gravel bar now.

Weird; that’s actually on Norfork, right by the big boulder wall when you wade up from the Handicapped access?

The run by the boulder wall is still there. It’s the pool that started just below the boulders and ran for a good ways, it’s mostly a gravel bar now. You can see the effects if high water on the little islands out from the wall and see how the river flow has been redirected

Hope you do well on the White Zach, the browns should really be colored up by now. Know what you mean with the colder weather, I’m gearing up for duck season and it does need to get cold.
