I mentioned in an earlier post that I was looking to go to Alaska (first timer!) After much surfing on the net I have narrowed it down to a couple of lodges/locations.

Before I booked just wanted to know if anyone has fished/stayed at the Copper River Lodge – http://www.copperriverlodge.com – and if so whether they would be kind enough to pass on some feed back about their experience, the fishing etc?

    Thanks in advance

If you haven’t already, send Dave Barron an email and ask him about it.

There are a few things to watch out for.

    1. The lodge must have fishable water right there. If the weather comes in, and you can’t fly or boat to the fish, then you need to have a strong dominos game.

    2. The lodge sould be close to the sea. This means you are catching “fresh” fish.

    3. You need a variety of water, not just on a big river, try get a back water close to the camp.

We use Alaska West, you can read Toms article here.

    Mike offers excellent advice!

Alaska fishing is all about timing. The salmon show up when they show up. Everything else revolves around that fact. If you are targeting the big rainbows…..you want to time your trip to fish eggs and flesh.

No one will be able to predict the exact dates of the salmon run….but the guides and lodge owners can get pretty close.

    Good luck….you’ll have a blast.

I know copper river lodge they are just down river from the lodge that I worked at. They have some great guides and one is a smoking hot chic and can she drive a jet boat, she would take a boat where I would not even think about it
