Now if I just had the time to actually work on rods and not pretend to be a rodmaker.

MemberThat is really cool, awesome press. I have never been a fan of bamboo, but I think you guys are magicians doing that stuff. I guess I just dont know enough about it, and I am not good enough to use one. I fish with guys who swear by them and spend serious money on them.
Thanks. But you are selling yourself short. Good enough to use one? What does that mean? If you like graphite better than that’s cool, but I’m not sure what ‘good enough to use one’ means. Anyone can cast bamboo that can cast graphite and there certainly shouldn’t be an elite connotation with using bamboo.
There is no alchemy to making these things. I’m seriously a.d.d. and I figured it out. I can’t even make a square wooden birdhouse, but I can make a rod that looks as good as any. Anyone can do it, it just takes a commitment.

Membermaybe I meant I am not worthy of such a rod, at this point in time.
I know we have a guy in GA named Bill Oyster that has a class, and I know some guys that have taken his class and their rods are unreal.

Chad SimcoxMemberWonderful piece. I’ve built one graphite rod and enjoyed it. I can’t imagine what it’s like to build a rod completely from scratch. From the initial piece of bamboo to the final rod is such an amazing transformation and takes great skill.
Beautiful rods on your site.http://society6.com/grainfarmer Fly Fishing and Landscape open edition Photography prints.

MemberAlong the same line, another cool piece I found this morning on MidCurrent.com
[glow=yellow,2,300]Zach Matthews’s “Gear of the Year” in American Angler’s January/February ’09 issue is well worth reading if only because they guy has a nose for innovation and sees the whole collection of new gear through a wider lens.[/glow]Not trying to hijack the thread but I did not think Zach would want an entire thread devoted to him, about this.
Congrats Mr. Matthews, it is nice to be recognized by your peers. -
