Has anyone had any experience fly casting to Cobia-Ling-Lemonfish in the Gulf of Mexico?

Cant help you with the technical stuff.

I know we all practice C&R but fresh Cobia might be the best tasting fish I have ever had.

Was fishing for flounder at “The Boxcars” off of Chincoteague a few years back.

My go to cobia fly is a black bonita bunny with some red trim and a little flash.  For some reason they like long, eel like flies.  I tie mine on a 2/0 hook with a light conehead for weight.  Total fly length is about 6 inches, however, the rabbit strip fly is easy to cast.

Cast the fly in front of and just beyond the fish and strip it in fast, jerky strips across their path.  The rabbit stip gives the fly a lot of motion which attracts the fish.  They will chase it and hit it hard once they see it.

I always hear people swearing by chartreuse but I’ve never done it on the fly.
