I had originally ordererd a Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 D ED lens from Adoroma prior to shooting the FLW event, but because Adoroma and BH were closed for sukku, I didn’t get the lens in time.

I want to know how your new lens works out. I’m in the market for the Nikon 80-400mm with image stabilization. It’s retiailing for about $1500 right now. I want to use it for bear photography next summer at Brooks Camp in Katmai National Park. Right now I’m making do with a heavy telephoto……a used Nikon 400mm F3.5 manual lens from a photog in Florida for $1100. It’s been professionally “chipped” so I do have matrix metering. It really works well for wildlife that is fairly still….gives you time to fine tune the focus. I plan to add a 1.7X teleconverter. Here’s a few:
