Chesapeake Bay Saltwater

Hey guys,
I just picked up the new Eastern Fly Fishing, which has an article on fishing the Chesapeake Bay and it got me all fired up. I live in Northern Virginia, about 1.5 hours away and want to see if anyone has knowledge of fishing the bay. I haven’t done any saltwater fishing on the fly, only deep sea adventures (most of which I was trying not to fall overboard with my head over the side, if you get my drift). Anyway, this is something I’d like to try this spring and wanted to get some introductory info.
I know there are some folks on the board from Maryland and the NE areas. Do you all have any tips on where to start exploring the Chesapeake this spring and summer? Books or resources? I have the Maryland/Delaware gazetteer, which I guess gives me a jump off point for getting there.
From what I understand in the article, 7-9 weight sinking lines for baitfish streamers or poppers to fish the topwater. Anyway, any insight would be awesome.
