Cherokee National Forest Up For Sale?

I was recently in a local flyshop and heard that Bob Corker a candidate for the seat in the Senate being evacuated by Bill Frist and a well known former real estate developer was in favor of selling off some or all of the Cherokee National Forest. Anyone heard anything about that?
David KingThey took a shot at selling off a ton of national forest land not long ago – maybe a year or two ago?
There’s an argument to be made for consolidating parcels of federally held land; selling little outlying pieces of no historical value (and usually too small for much environmental value as preserves, etc.) and using that money to buy more land that’s contiguous with a national park or large forest.
I think they were going to use the proceeds for education in some fashion. Using education as red herring is pretty clever. Its hard to be against education. I found this story on the web.

I don’t trust these people to do whats in the best interest of the general public and hunters and fisherman.
