On the plus side, carrying a lens like that would assure you of all the finest attention at any airport you visited.  “Please step this way, sir, and talk to these nice men in suits…”

    🙂

that and a couple of rod tubes and your trip is toast…

    Ha Ha

I would not under any circumstances bring that anywhere near an airport. I can imagine the reception some guy wanting to take pics of planes or an airshow and having that (or the 500 2.8) mounted in the back of a jeep would get.

I know a guy who found himself flanked by cops early in the moring because he was in camo, in a field trying to get deer and using a 400 mounted on a Bushhawk. He told the cops its was a camera and he was still quite literally told to put it down and step away.

Not a comfortable situation to be in Im thinking.

Welcome to the police state, where the media sells fear and fear buys power.

I guess I need to get some Velcro patches sewn into the netting on my ghillie suit and other camo items… that I can rip down and expose in large yellow letters…. PHOTOGRAPHER DON’T SHOOT.

Don’t want some LEO “counter sniper” taking me out because I’m lying prone with a large “scope” and a tripod…

So, what I am looking for is a lens that will allow me to look through through the camera, snap the pic and end up with an image like: My backside looking through the camera taking the picture. 😉

I’ll have to talk with the folks and Manfrotto, on this one, but I feel confident that they will void my warranty as, unreasonable care
