Have not had the chance to do as much carp fishing as I would like this year, but when I have had a chance to get out it has been pretty good.

I have been playing around with different tactics this year and my favorite has to be using a switch rod. My current favorite rig is my Sage 6110-4 Z-axis with a Rio Skagit short 325 gr. with a 10ft. floating spey versileader going to a standard 9ft. 3x leader and adding 3ft. of 4x fluorocarbon.

The nice thing about the switch rod is the ability to cast in close or out far, not to mention the leverage you can gain on a fish with the additional length of rod. Also the rod does a fantastic job of protecting light tippet.

Here are a few of the fish that I caught while fishing for an hour after work.

Good looking fish Michael. I like the interesting technique with the switch. Does Tibor offer a golden bone engraving?

Nice fish!  I’m not sure I understand the need for light tippet with carp though.  I’ve never found them to be very tippet shy.

I usually use 3x fluoro, but have been using 4x with the low and clear water I have in the creek I am fishing. It makes a big difference go to the lighter tippet.
