I recently sent a busted cabela’s FT 9wt. back with crossed fingers because I got it as a gift and did not have the receipt. They mistakenly sent me back an 8’6″ 6wt. PT. After a short phone call UPS came and picked that rod up and yesterday I got a new FT that was sent UPS over night shipping. I am happier than heck that they even honored the warranty in the first place and then went crazy fixing a mistake. Great customer service reminds me to take a look at them when I need something.

The gear snobs won’t admit it but yes Cabelas is the best outfitter in the business. I buy the Cabelas name when I can and usually save big compared to name brand. I have been 100% happy with everything except a pair of Cabelas hiking boots which they happily refunded my money when I told them I didn’t like them. I also have an FT rod, mine is an 8wt and it’s a sweet rod. I pulled a snake guide out of it a few weeks ago (totally my fault and a long story) the eye ended up jammed half way into my finger, I was having a day… I pulled it out and fished the rod for the rest of the day.

Mike, Who do you suppose makes the FT rods for Cabela’s? I was pretty sure that my 1st one was a GL3. Not so sure about this one. It looks different…prettier and seems a little stiffer from just a few waggles. It is certainly a very nice rod and I wish I had more opportunity to use it.

Mine looks an awful lot like a St Croix.
