All you guys posting your fishin pictures . . . I thought I would add one 🙂

Last night I caught my first fish since being snake bit on the King’s River.

Sorry aout the bite, that’s gotta put a crimp in your fishing. When I first saw your report I thought maybe you had made a trip out to CA. I live in Fresno, which is a very short drive from another Kings River. It is well known for being a rattlesnake filled area. Anyway, I’m glad you’re well on the road to recovery.

Wayne, you are a lucky fellow. Man, I hate that, but glad to hear to are recovering OK.

Only other person I’ve known to get snake bit wading was also wading a shallow riffle but at dark. He was bitten in the calf by a cottonmouth and was out of commission sick for at least two weeks.

In my younger days, I have waded streams (upper White and Clear Creek) at night frog hunting and killed several cottonmouth. They catch frogs around the edges, so be very careful near shallow vegetation as you now know. One reason I don’t fish the spring creeks in the summer wading. If I can’t float it, forget it.

Another reason I don’t like pontoons on Ozark streams in the summer. If a cottonmouth decides to climb up on one with you, what are you going to do?

Good lord, Wayne, that’s a terrible story; but thank you for chronicling it for us!

I am good to go now . . . no more drugs etc. Went fishin again last night! Hooked a monster carp, on my 9 wt but the hook came out.
