    I agree with that. craft fur is definately best suited for tails. If you make a clouser out of craft fur I would leave the wing as buck tail or body hair. You can make some really cool shrimp immatations that way.

    I tie almost all of my clousers with either slinky flash (or whatever the current name is) or the newer Farrar blends. These make great clousers which withstand teeth and these materials are lots more “moveable” in the water. The other advantage is you can tie long clousers on big hooks. Some of my deep water tarpon clousers are tied on 4/0 hooks and are 6 inches long.

    I tie most of mine with bucktail, but when I use synthetics I use Ultra Hair – it hold up to teeth well. I’ve found softer synthetics tend to tangle.

    I have used ultra hair also but I don’t think it has as much movement as the farrar or slinky flash. And yes, these do tangle after a fish or two.
