I have always been a higher end equipment guy but I have a pair of Hodgeman stocking foot waders that I have used for three years in hard salt flats use and several Idaho river trips and Colorado wade trips.

Mike the Simms guide waders are too pricey for me too but I still bought a pair of Simms.

I went with the lightweights and they have lasted me 3 + years (so far) with no problems. This was after going through a pair of less expensive ($100) waders every year for 3 years. My wife has a pair of the Simms Freestones which are not gore tex but have worked very well for her also.

I’m a firm believer in the quality of simms products. I have their guide vest, rivertek boots, etc. None of these items have ever let me down.

I have Hodgeman waders that I wore for three or four years and then gave them to my son who is still wearing them, and still haven’t sprung a leak.

I don’t know if you have made your purchase or not, but when I was scouring my usual sites for deals I came across a deal on some Patagonia WaterMaster Lights here:

Google can be a really good tool for finding deals by searching for terms such as “Simms L2 Closeout” or “Simms L2 Sale”.

Thanks for all the great replies everyone!  I haven’t pulled the trigger on a new set yet.  I’m still in the “research” phase…  Roughly translated:  I’m still trying to get my wife warmed up to the idea of me spending more money on my flyfishing addiction…   😮  [smiley=lipsrsealed.gif]

    In thought of Mikes addiction.

If I get them… that means my wife has to get them too. AND IF IT HELPS make her comfortable enough to get her on the river, That means I can get on the river more. MATTER of fact, I will buy her the expensive PROS and get me a pair of canvas hips…. just to get on the water.

Trout (anonymous) Unlimited – There is no 12 step program for this addiction AND the more that you are on the water, the more you have to be on the water. (Its Kinda Like Crack and I’m a Pusher)

I know I’m beating a dead horse, but I’m still fishing with a pair of Simms Lightweights I bought right around 2000 or 2001.
