The Itinerant AnglerHey guys –
For those who didn’t get the opportunity to read my bamboo article in print this month (tsk, tsk – there might still be copies on shelves, by the way), I have completed hosting it here in the media center.

MemberZach,
Speaking of your contributions to American Angler, congratulations on the two articles, and photo work in the most recent issue. Does this mean yor are officially knighted now? 🙂
Pretty good issue from cover to cover. In addition to your two pieces, I really enjoyed the article about fishing the Keys on the cheap. I would love to see more articles like that. I especially liked that the author reminded his readers several times to keep their expectations realistic. I don’t particularly buy into the whole trout bum persona, but do appreciate doing some homework, making a few phone calls, putting out a handful of bening questions on ff boards, and then planning fishing trips to destinations that offer relatively cheap access, affordable lodging–with the option of camping, and alternatives in case the primary destination is blown out, or off.

MemberI guess I’ll have to stop calling you a prima donna now.
I read the article in AA and I have to say I’m surprised that you thought it might be somewhat controversial. Granted, I don’t know anything about cane rods, but it seemed well-balanced. I guess I’ll have to wait for the fallout in the letters in the next issue.

Bob RigginsMemberNice article Zach. I’m not a cane kind of guy, but I did just buy my first cane rod. I got a cheapo on e-bay to decorate my office that turned out to be a very nice rod. Old, but in nice condition. It must have been a custom rod, because it has no markings on it. I can see how you could fall in love with cane. It almost casts itself. I was laying out 50′ casts with almost no effort. I doubt if I could shoot a long cast with it though. The cane definitely has a different feel than graphite. Sort of like curling up on the sofa with a good book.

MemberI thought the article was really well balanced and covered the many ways you can approach cane rods with solid advice. Not an easy subject to cover since it often inspires near fanaticism amongst those deeply bitten:)
Kudos on a well done job:)
