MemberHighlander, hopper fishing is in full swing at the moment.
Generation pattern has been:
Norfork – every afternoon and evening both units running. Heavy wade pressure on Norfork tailwater anytime it shuts down and the Bull Shoals powerhouse is running continually.
Bull Shoals – some around the clock generation with low flows through the night, but starting to see some 10-12 hour shut down at night. Still running very heavy in the afternoons and evenings and will until hot weather subsides.
By mid-October generation lessens considerably typically.
Happy fishing,

Hoppers + low waterEquals 21″ of fun

Water levels have been a bit quirky Brett, not that much of a settled pattern like we hoped wwith nightly low water so you can get wading downstream, but when we have had it it had been good.
Boat fishing, either drift boats like Scott’s or river boats has been pretty good on the high water. The hopper fishing has been spectacular at times, when we have had the low water. Ive had some superb days, wet wading having a blast. But of course it will be gone by October. Hopefully that late caddis hatch will be on, maybe some olives but the mainstays are midges, scuds sowbugs etc.
Sound like you have been down this way before but don’t forget Conclave if you are going to be in the area on these dates http://www.southerncouncilfff.org/conclave/conclave.php
Brings more people in so you can get some crowds but a good time nonetheless.
If you have any more questions ask away
Cheers

MemberBret:
I had been fishing the Nofork the same weekend as the bamboo get-together for several years, and finally made it over that way a couple years ago.

MemberI’ve been to the Norfork a couple of times this year including just a few weeks ago. Both times we went we intended to fish the White as well – but heavy generation kept us on the Norfork. We did pretty well at the Norfork our last trip out (Oct 7). Nothing huge but good numbers of some decent fish (rainbows and browns). Small beadhead nymphs worked well for us.
The previous day we helped with the annual youth conclave on dry run creek. What a blast that was!!
