MemberHey all, I’ve got a project to shoot in Jonesboro in the next couple weeks and was wondering if it’s a good idea to bring my fly fishing stuff (AR being number 4 on Zach’s list an’ all =). I’m willing to drive a couple hours and hire a guide, but I’m not familiar with the area so I don’t know if that’s even doable. Any thoughts from the AR area locals here? Ya’ll wanna go fishing? Any info or insight would be fantastic. Thanks in advance!

The Itinerant AnglerDouglas –
You’re not going to be very far from the Heber Springs area, which is on the Little Red River (where the last world record brown was caught back in 1992).
See my map below; a little out of date but useful.

Directions:
You also could go over to the Spring or the Norfork Rivers, in Hardy and Norfork, Arkansas respectively.
Here’s my very old article on fishing the Little Red, written while I was in college.

Chad SimcoxMemberJust make sure to check the generation schedule if you plan on wade fishing without a guide.

MemberThanks everyone for the input! Zach, great article and a huge help. Thanks for posting that! I’m going to have to see if an extra day is possible as another project is coming in for a landing soon after this one. Will keep you posted.
Thanks again!

MemberThanks again for all the info but, something about Arkansas tornadoes and wide spread destruction and flooding this week gives me pause. Hmmm. Yeah, I think I’ll skip it this time.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by this crazy weather. May your friends and families stay safe and sound.
To everyone, please tell those you love just how you feel. Today. Everyday.
