I was cruising the RIO site and was checking out the new extreme tippet:

Warning: The ultra-thin diameter and very high tensile strength of Extreme Tippet makes it tough to break (and cut). Be careful if hooked to a snag that the fly or line does not fire back into your face when pulling for a break. Also, handle with care when tightening knots to avoid being cut by the material.

    Cut your fingers tightening knots!?!?!?!?!

I’ve cut my fingers tightening knots a hundred times, but usually with heavy-diameter tippet and when my hands were already wet.

This looks like clever marketing to me.

I knew it was marketing speak, I just thought it was funny.

I’ve cut my finger more times than I can count tightening knots.

No doubt – it’s very real:

If you’re in the camp that visibility of tippet is not nearly as big a deal as it’s often made out to be, then this may be a product for you.

There is no reason on earth to use braid as tippet, I don’t care about the visibility, I care about the fact that it cuts the crap out of your hands, doesn’t stretch, frays way to easily, is probably stronger than your leader or backing, is limp and super prone to impossible tangles.

I picked up a spool in Denver the sound of 5x and 10lb was pretty tempting for White River Browns.
Fished it on Dry Run Creek and on the White. Its strong obviously, as been mentioned black, which is a little offputting.

Stepson caught some of his best fish on Dry run using this, though for obvious reasons I was fishing an “unbreakable” teccie fibreglass prototype 7′ 6wt. Had one fish bust off a knot, my error I guess, but it was a racehorse. Perhaps no stretch was partly to fault, I was fishing 8′ of this conected to a butt section.
but in normal conditions the stretch/or lack thereof in your 3′ of tippet compared to flyline, rod bend, other 9′ of leader isn’t a great deal.

As I said I fished it on the White, but ran out before I had a good test on high water. I caught fish when
